15 to 20 FT UNDER GROUND...CALL QUALITY

FYI....I work in a profession that sometimes require me to go 15 to 20 FT underground, concrete walls and some metal barriers enclosed around and about me. I received and made calls while I was in this location. There was no dropped calls, no skipping in conversation and I was able to received a message (mail also).

I thought this was great....I didn't have to say 'CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?' to the person on the other end of the call.


This phone's quality of receiving and sending calls and the quality is AWESOME! :)

Just wanted to share with the 'DINC FAMILY'.
 
That's great for you, but getting clear calls, regardless of where you are, or your surroundings, is greatly dependant on your proximity to a tower/antenna.
 
I work on the second floor of a casino! and get no service what so ever, but then again its in a surveillance room surrounded by 1600 slot machines.

Holy inductive interference, batman'. I cannot think of too many radio devices that could deal with that without a problem.
 
When I first got my DI a month ago, I noticed that the call quality was not as good as it was with my last phone, the 6900. I did some updates and it was improved. I emailed HTC and they responded by saying that they are aware of the issue and will be having a new ROM come out somewhat soon, so reception should be even better for you.

Unless you were in a manhole and could see open air I find this hard to believe... OR the location had a repeater. That goes for any cell phone. the frequencies and power levels used just don't support that kind of obstacle penetration.
 
haha I thought this was going to be a thread making fun of people that complain about reception, saying "I can't believe it, but when I'm 30 feet underground in a coal mine with no openings for miles, I can't get reception! What Bull!"

I'm glad to see that's NOT the case!

Damnit you're the guy who caught me counting cards.
 
I agree. Our basement level where I work is used for a lot of meetings (and has a convenient "Batman" exit to the parking lot;) ).

I constantly see people outside the basement level exits using their phones (not smoking- banned even outside) since they can not get a signal otherwise. I have one or two bar 3G down there and some of these folks have BB's through VZW (one of our corp device providers) and can not get a signal.

I am able to watch Youtube vids and make call in those areas. This dispels the weak signal debate.
