Root 1600 mhz oc safe?

Seems most people with root are overclocked to 1600ish. Is this really a safe frequency? I know it should have a bit of headroom but from what I read the cpu is already overclocked @ stock speeds.

This same CPU runs 1.4ghz in the Reverb and other devices. 1.6ghz is the normal overclock for the MSM8655, many run higher.

I run the exact same CPU at 1.8ghz with another device
