Root 16gb class 4 microSD

ok so just a quick 2 questions

firstly, will 16gb class 4 microSD run fine with my rooted desire RCMix S 2.0?

secondly, i know i will have to partition the new card but what about the info stored on the card, i know the rom is stored on the phone itself as it my nandriod backup but what about everything stored on the partition? btw i am aware i will need to create a new gold card
 
Before partitioning the card it will need to be formatted, so plug your phone into your computer selecting the "Mount as a Disk Drive" option. Then simply copy all the files on the SD card to your computer. Then partition your card using Gparted or a similar utility. Most ROMs that use A2SD require a 1 GB partition so just to make future life easier, you should go with that.

To answer your other question: yes, a class 4 should be fine for A2SD, I have heard of many people using them with no issues, although I can't confirm as I myself have a class 6.

Your nandroid is on the card, not on the phone.

If you are already using A2SD+ with your current card, the simplest way of transferring is probably to take a nandroid backup, copy everything from the fat32 partition of the old card onto the new card (after partitioning it), insert the new card, boot into recovery and restore from the nandroid. That will restore the content of the ext partition onto the ext of the new card.
 
I swapped my 16gb class 4 for a class 6 and have not noticed any difference to be honest. Same rom with both. Not bothered doing any speed tests to check them out yet

Cheers mate. I just wanted to make the switch over as easy as possible. Don't want to mess up anything. So It'sf

Backup with nand>copy all files on SD card to pc>format and partition new card>make new card a goldcard>copy all files to new SD card>boot in recovery and restore the nand back up>enjoy my phone once again
 
Sounds right to me. If you have a card reader in pc then you can copy straight between the cards once formatted/partitioned - one card in phone, one in reader.

These things can take a while (or it did for me with all my music on) so one less copy/paste will save a bit.
 
I bought a 16 gb sandisk class 4 recently. It works well. Sdtools reports 6MBps write and 12MBps read. My original 2 gb card was giving 7 MBps write.
 
I have seen a few results stating 7MBs but the desire can't really go above 6. Not sure if these 7 results are,thrown off slightly by something in the tests.
