16gb micro sd or micro sd sdhc which

i don't really understand the difference, except one is cheaper than the other.

I assume the Desire takes both, but does it really matter.

I know my laptop can read both, but my desktop can't read the sdhc ones, i guess it's too old!
 
To my knowledge, any micro sd card 8gb or above will be an sdhc (high capacity).

Yes you are right, older memory card readers may not be able to read the new sdhc card format. I had to but a new reader for my desktop also.
 
Indeed, as far as I am aware you cannot get an non SDHC 16Gb card.

Price difference is usually down to the speed of the card and the manufacturer.
 
SD cards only go up to 4GB, anything above that will be an SDHC card. If you've found a 16GB card labelled as SD it's just lazy labelling on behalf of whoever is selling it.

Though yes the Desire can read microSD and microSDHC.
 
And things will be even more complex with the release of SDXC! That will be the last card anybody ever needs though I should think - who will ever need more than 2TB on a mobile device? :eek:
