Root [1st Gen] How to install CM7?

Adamantus

Newbie
Hi,
I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and, after using the stock rom for a bit, have decided to switch over to a custom rom. I wanted to install CM7, but I'm a bit confused by a guide I was using.

I'm using this guide from liliputing.
How to install CyanogenMod 7 on the Amazon Kindle Fire - Liliputing

But in it, he says that to have sound you need to download Whistletop's new update.zip file and latest CyanogenMod release from this link
CM7 for Kindle Fire (aka standing on the shoulders Giants) - xda-developers

I went there but couldn't find a link to an update.zip file or a rom file. He does talk about pulling the source and compiling it, which I'm not very comfortable doing. Is there a simple update zip and rom file to download? If so, where? Thanks in advance.

Follow the instructions at the bottom of THIS post, all of the downloads can be found in the post as well.

That was the same post I linked to. I saw where the CM7 rom was, but I still can't find a link to the update.zip there.

This is a little over half way down the page:

If you're coming from a STOCK ROM then use this version to flash. It will wipe the data and cache partitions (as well as the system partition) as a part of the flash process which should get rid of any FC issues.

This is the update.zip he is referring to if you're going from stock to CM7. I used the same file and everything installed just fine.
