Root [1st Gen] Kindle Fire w/Software version 6.3 Root Guide

Step one is to download android SDK extract or install depending on how the setup your using works, Make a folder here follow this path C:\programx86\android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools this is my path to ADB, I made the folders that make the path. Once that is done open my computer right click on the computer icon & select properties then advanced system settings, then select Environmental Variables, click on edit & edit the variable called "Path" DO NOT DELETE YOUR PATH, add this to the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\ansroid-sdk-windows\platform-tools; (Don't forget the semi colan at the end of your path. Then open a command prompt & type cd c:\Program File(x86)\Android\android-sdk-windows\Platform-tools & press enter this will CD the command prompt, now type adb kill-server & press enter, then type adb start-server & press enter, then type adb devices now it should read a serial number, if so all good moving on to the next step. If it says list of attached devices your path to adb is wrong. Now make another folder on your C:\ called KFU (Kindle fire Utility) & extract all the contents of KFU O.9.5 or 0.9.6. & install driver.bat If the command prompt has a serial number then run KFU, start with option 2. Good to go. When it first boots you'll see blue kindle fire logo if you press & hold power for 10 seconds or so the boot options will appear. If you don't want to boot into recovery or the bootloader just leave it alone & it will boot up normal in about 30 seconds. Hope this Guide helps you guys out. nope its the ics version. i was gonna wait just a bit before trying anything jelly bean. but the ics one is pretty good. hes gonna be updating to 3.6 on his rom so i'll wait til tomorrow to download and flash it. what are you running on yours?
 
Well it's for my son for his b-bay this coming up week. Done a little research on the Roms out for the kindle, It's a MUST that the wifi works & it has to be able to hook up to a PC via USB (aka tethering). Does the rom your on have those things working with NO ISSUES, don't wanna having to fix it all the time afterall my son is gonna be 10 & if don't wanna work he'll definitely go exploring & that's not good LOL.
 
haha right on. yea the wifi works on this rom. not sure bout the tethering. havent tried it at all. havent seen any posts about tethering not working over on xda forums either. its a good rom though. i put it on my moms kindle cuz its pretty easy to use.
 
I don't mean tethering for internet, Can you access your into internal storage on your kindle via USB cable with it running an ICS Rom ? & If anybody knows about this on jellybean Rome,don't wanna give him a brand new kindle that has non-functioning stuff, that would suck, lol, it's like a new HTC Evo Design 4G that mms doesn't work right out of the box. You live you learn lol.
 
ohhh thought you meant other tethering. yea your able to hook it up to the computer and have it show up. i havent really found anything wrong with it so far.
