Root [1st Gen] Kindle root went bad

Moved this to the KF root forums ;)

To add to what Airmaxx23 said what is happening other than not being able to find a backup.

Sorry, thanks for reply back. Well i had rooted it with Burritoroot2, it was doing fine till yesterday then it said go launcher. So i was going to go back to kindle & did the restore. I have TWRP and did what it said, but from what i see there is no backup on here. some how it didnt back up the kindle. So now when i turn it on it gos into TWRP.

Did you create a backup when you first rooted? If not, then you will not have one there. You will have to flash a custom rom or the stock rom if its available to get back to a working KF.

I believe that this thread has the rooted stock rom that comes on the KF. You will have to reinstall any mods(Go launcher and such) that you had previously but it should get you back to a working device.

Iam haveing prob finding kindle on computer well i downloaded the file but dont know what to dowith it now....i mean it wont do anything..

I am not rooted on my fire but you should be able to boot it in recovery and it should be listed in ADB if you type the command
Code:
adb devices
if it is you can push the file via adb to the fire then flash the rom in recovery.

I wish I was better at ADB so I could try to make this sound more clear...:(

You can install a pre-rooted version of the new Kindle OS 6.3, if you are on 6.2.2, with only TWRP or CWM available. You don't need ADB or fastboot. This can fix a corrupted 6.2.2 OS. It will preserve your apps, and it will preserve your current recovery and bootloader.

Basically, you go into TWRP and enable "mount USB storage" and simply copy the 6.3 zip to your internal memory from your PC. Then use TWRP to flash the zip you installed. NOT the stock 6.3 zip, but the pre-rooted version I refer to in the link above. Or go there directly from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569298

The 6.3 Kindle version has some relevant improvements. You'll probably get it OTA anyway, and you'll lose root. Be proactive and install it first with root.

If you go into TWRP and mount as usb storage, it should come up on your pc as a removable storage device and not as the KF. You should then be able to copy the zip file to the "sdcard" partition on the KF. Unmount usb storage, wipe and flash the zip. You should end up with a bootable device at that point.

Hmmm......I am at a loss then. I am fairly new to the KF rooting and "repairing" process so do not have alot of knowledge in this area. I am familiar with rooting and flashing on other devices but not sure where to go from here on this one. It should be repairable in my thinking. Maybe someone else will see this and give some advice.

Hi yea i dont see why you cant reprogram it like a computer. I did get the update 6.3 on here i can see it when i go to back up and i think its unzip but all it dose is boot up and stays on the kindle fire.
