I have downloaded a couple of ROM's now and the only thing that happens when I install them are continuous bootloops.........help please!!!

you might be in fast boot. what you need to do is

Plug in USB cable to Kindle Fire on TWRP Recovery mode.
Bring up Command Prompt.
Key in adb shell.
Key in idme bootmode 4000 and press enter
Finally, key in reboot.
That’s it.
Note – adb.exe is located in Kindle Fire Utility\tools folder or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools.

Yes, use TWRP. Hashcode, one of the developers behind CWM, has specifically said not to use CWM because of issues. Get yourself on TWRP and you'll be in business. It has been flawless for me.
