Root 1st time root

Basically i am wondering what are the ultimate advantages to rooting my eris. And also would it be worth the risk as it is my daily user and if i bricked it i would be kinda screwed.

faster, more space, better battery...can anyone think of a downside? you can be up and running froyo in about 15 minutes start to finish. I've never heard of anyone bricking an eris, ever.

well thats good to know lol. yeah i checked that thread out i just keep seeing all these people saying they have problems after rooting. Is that to be expected or is it like a 1 in 100 type of deal

what problems? theres always 'issues' with one rom vs another especially if you're talking about froyo roms, but remember you don't really even need one. root allows you to do so much more even with your stock rom.

yeah not necessarily problems just issues as you put it. but im downloading KaosFroyo V38 right now and im gonna try that one out. everyone seems to like it pretty good

Kaos V38 may not be the best first ROM to choose. You should also download Conap's CFS V8 kernel and flash that from recovery.

Because you need to install a kernel over Kaos to get it to work without burning battery. It's not exactly the most user-friendly thing for a first time rooter.

The way that I recall, Kaos once shipped with BFS and most people were not happy with it. All of the rest of the Froyo ROMs are using Conap's CFS.

just flashed the Conap's CFS and everything seems to be running smooth and fast. today will be the first day with root so ill see how it goes

There is a difference, by the way. It has to do with how processes are scheduled for CPU time.

just search and lurk around the threads. you should find what your looking for no problem. look under the eris root for dummies sticky and it tells you how to flash over a ROM. you are rooted right?
