Pass 2 day I notice the 1x on top disappear o have to restart to see the 1x again but even when the 1x is gone signal bar still there I can make call

i have noticed my 1x disappear with no effects to my signal strength.

Yea, 1x, 3g, 4g, are all data connections. When you make a call they shut down.

My 1x will disappear at any random given time. It's always done that for me with Metro. I don't know why. My data is always unstable. Though I do always have less than 2 bars here in my apartment. Definitely a connection between signal strength and my data. X.x

Is it possible for a phone to just switch connections like from 1x to 3/4g?

If you lose your 3g connection, the phone will switch to 1x automatically until you get the 3g signal back.

If you are on Cricket (which has 3G) it will switch depending on whether you have 3G service or not. But our phones don't have 4G.

Did you try to go into airplane mode? Then try again? It might just need the data reset. If that doesn't work perhaps you can try to reboot the phone?
