2.0 coming for Galaxy i7500 in March/April

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share this article found yesterday in a Sweden website, where "apparently Samsung" stepped in saying that the low spec Spica Galaxy i5700 will be able to upgrade to Eclair 2.0 between March / April, therefore makes the i7500 a possible winner for 2.0:rolleyes:

Anyway, here is the website for the info

Google Translate

spica has a better processor and more memory but is not got all the other features the galaxy has
this unfortunately means we cannot base our thoughts on galaxy android 2.0 with spica

The Galaxy i7500 as well HTC Hero runs CPU+Clock 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor, as you've probably heard, htc hero "will" have Eclair, so specs aside, Galaxy i7500 it's a perfect candidate for Eclair, in my opinion.

the hero runs 288mb memory where as galaxy is 192 tho mate, again you cannot compare

HTC customise the platform and add their own specialized ROM(fitting 288mb Ram) because of their Sense UI that sits on top of Android, making it heavier than Android OS core, m8;)

I see. Well the battery life is probably based on the bare min needed to operate the phone... like maybe no 3g, no data, min cpu speed... so on.

its still got more ram regardless lol
i dont see the point in that argument

what im saying is you cannot use other firms comparisons and you cant use the i5700 either lol
so there now point in posting in a cocky manor as its not really helpfull is it?

rosie is not that much heavier

im not saying we wont get 2.0, i think we will im just saying we cannot base it on other phones as the one that is closest to us (the behold) have we seen their camera or media player yet? nope

Currently getting just under 2 weeks though this seems to be getting better with charges, GPRS not 3G and quite minimal use. Went to London and 3G/GPS killed it in a day...

im not saying we wont get 2.0, i think we will hope you are right, here in England there isn't much choice of Android phone with a network prov like O2(in my opinion), either Vodafone or Orange, frankly I'd rather stay with O2 where I can have home broadband and have good value for money.

2 weeks? Now that is impressive.

I just checked I last charged on the 16th and again today, spare parts was reporting "15" but not sure how much I trust its scale as 5-0 seem to go really quickly? Anyway, more like 10/11 days but still quite good!

im on o2 uk so i know exactly what you mean :)
i also have their 20meg llu package and wouldnt change it for the world
galaxy was o2's first android and thought it would be good enough to base exclusivity but i think theyve been burned by it :(
it might affect android phones future with o2 tbh

You turn your phone off at night?

:) No, but I do have 3G, WiFi & bluetooth switched off and a full signal most of the time. Not an extended battery or anything, I think the model number is this - EB504465VU. And rebooting to find this out has cost me "10" according to spare parts, d'oh!

Very light use, ie a call or a few SMS a day. Like saying that most cars can do 80MPG if driven in the right manner ;)

Well I can get 3 days or 4 days, out of mine easy enough, but I don't have 3G disabled. Might see how much of a difference it makes when I next charge it up.

BTW the galaxy lite processor isnt necesarily real world faster than the galaxy one. They have used an _old_ samsung processor in the lite, which isnt very good imho
