Help 2.1 + launcher force close

After forcing the 2.1 update the launcher.apk keeps force closing and i cannot do anything...do i have to wipe data and do a factory reset?
 
launcher2 or launcher?

im sure its launcher2, you need to clear defaults for that app then delete it. You should have cleared defaults before the update.
 
does the home screen pop up at all? if it does you can sneak your way into settings. If not... you may have to go into safemode, there are instructions on droid-life.com for that...
 
Just as a reference I installed launcher2 on my phone to test it and it just doesn't work with 2.1 at all

Don't panic..I was fooling around and f'd up by setting Launcher2 as a default which sent me into a force close loop with 2.1. What you do is in between each fc prompt keep hitting the search button at the same time constantly. Eventually it will pop up and type in on your hardware keyboard 'settings'. It will take u to there and uninstall Launcher there. Or if u recently were in your settings use your quick shortcut by long pressing home and it may take u to the settings that way too.
 
I was screwing around today and got myself in the same situation. Your advice really saved me. If you come to DC, the drinks are on me.
 
keeps saying sorry but android launcher closed. i press the force close button but it pops up again 2 seconds later and this just keeps happening. I cant get into my home screen either.
