The 2.1 update has been announced to roll out starting at the end of October.

If you have a new phone it may be worth checking with either PC Companion or Sony Ericsson Update Service to ensure you have the latest firmware currently available.

Running a dev v2.1 for a while, seems to be faster than 1.6 but a lot of v2.1 app like NY Times etc still does not show up in Market.

i saw on this website from cnet.com that it stated

The official Sony Ericsson product blog posted an article today advising that X10, X10 Mini, and X10 Mini Pro handsets will begin receiving the Eclair update on Sunday evening. Initially, only phones in the Nordic countries will see the update, with other European countries getting 2.1 starting Monday, November 1. All other X10 phones, including those used in North America, will get their update by the end of November.
