2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

i would bet that the numbers DO change.

You're one hell of a mysterious fella Caddy....Being that you always manage to snag things ahead of time, I can't read a single one of your posts without thinking you're giving us a huge hint based on personal inside knowledge.

I've been lurking in this forum for a while but didn't really have anything positive to add. The main reason I found this site was because of update rumors in the first place.

I'm still on 1.5 so if there is any way possible to get the OTA off of the phone I will gladly post. One of you bright fellows may have to help me though.

And yes. I am crazy.

really im not, i only know 1 verizon employee here and we rarely talk ever (seriously)

i have 0 inside info on this update, i am dead serious. like i have said many times, i read a LOT of posts here, A LOT, and in that reading i know who to take seriously and who not too, this way i can draw fairly accurate conclusions...

my posts in RE: to the 2.1 update are guesses for the most part (although most of the time they are good guesses)

I logged onto my VZ account and did a "send us a comment/question" thing and got a call back from an actual person (who left me a VM stating that the update was active and that I should receive it in the next 24hrs). She would call while I was away from the dang phone!! I'd encourage you to fill out the online form and wait for a phone call then hit em with all your questions (if you have any)... maybe you'll get a firm answer...but probably not...

...for those who care, the number on the missed call ID was 240-568-3963...

@Caddy

Where do you think the update would be downloaded to? (SD or Internal) I want to keep an eye on the location.

Well you've been a great help to me on these forums....you must be naturally gifted when it comes to cell phone customer service. :D

Also, I just received the following in my email....

Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. My name is Lashunta and I value the time you have taken to contact us inquiring of any confirmed date and times for the software upgrade for the HTC Droid Eris. I am sure you are ready for the software update to be released and I am more than glad to assist you with your questions.

Actually, the software upgrade should begin in the next few days. Regrettably, we do not have an exact or confirmed date since this software upgrade is through the manufacturer of the phone, HTC. The download of the software will not be visible to you, but it will happen in the background. You will receive a notification that the software upgrade is available with the option to Install Now, Install Later, or More Info. Please ensure that you have 40% or more battery charge before proceeding.

The software updates automatically, and the DROID ERIS will power off and on as part of this software update and will take approximately 10 - 15 minutes. During the installation onto the device, you will be unable to make or receive calls, including emergency calls. The best method for you to upgrade your software is Over the Air (OTA) and allow it to come automatically to your device.

Generally, a software upgrade is distributed to customers in groups. For more information you may visit our website:

www.verizonwireless.com/droiderissupport

In closing, I have discussed the process of our software upgrade for the HTC Droid Eris. I hope the information I have provided has been helpful.

It is a true privilege and my pleasure in the opportunity of assisting you today. I strive to ensure your customer service experience is exceptional and superior. Thank you for being the best part of Verizon Wireless. Your business is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Lashunta

Good to meet you crazy! If I were you, I would go root that phone right away. Within a day, possibly hours of the OTA being released, I can guarantee you that the ROM developers will have a fully working OTA copy that gives you the full benefits of root. Just back out of here and go to the "Root" section for the how-to.

He's one of the special ones here. I remember first coming in to the forums not long after getting my Eris in January. There were mods and there were helpful folks and there was Caddyman leading the pack in what I call, "Cool Aid." ;)

He's the coolest non-mod, non-guide here that also has knowledge, in my opinion.

i would think since i heard someone say this update is around 77mb that it would be pushed to the sd cause we dont have a whole heck of a lot of internal memory but i could be wrong, i mean you should be able to update your phone without a sdcard in right?

For sure, I've been here since December and I remember Caddy posting the answers to pretty much every question you could ever have.

Just hit the (LIKE) button.

I also heard that "squeaky wheels" (i.e. those that have 'formally' complained via phone call, letter, email, etc) will likely get the update first....who knows how true that is...just another rumor I heard...

...if it's true though I've been a squeaky wheel so I hope I'm in the 'early' group(s)! :)
