2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

Let's try to stay on topic folks. I know everyone is excitedly bouncing around like a 2 year old hopped up on Jolt Cola and NoDoz, but the more off topic comments we have the harder it is for anyone to follow along. The harder it is for people to follow along, the more repetitive questions we get. The more repetitive questions, the more flaming. The more flaming, the more infractions I have to give out. I don't want to give out infractions.

Besides every time you go off topic, God crashes the forum.

Please stay on topic.

Isn't there a difference from being "pushed" the update, and "forcing" the update. Reason I mention is cause I had a Palm Pre Plus on verizon, and when it went to 1.4 it was gonna be the same rollout over a period of time, but with WebOs you can make it look for the update, thats what I did, and then it updated.

Ok, I'm a jerk for even saying anything.

Anyone staying up till 12:01 EST to see if the OTA pushes?

You're not a jerk, and I'll be up and if I get it I'll be posting it on here as well as all the new software info. Which reminds me, I need to copy the present software info to compare to.

This is correct. When my buddy got his 2.1 update on his Moto Droid it was about 11pm, CST. I know this because we were at the strip club at the time and he was going to take a picture of him and a stripper, and the phone started updating.

Funny story, I know, lol!

Yup my friends moto droid notified him when he was all hammered round 1am on the release date

Then we're all doomed...God hates me. :D

I stated this yesterday, but I'll say it again...when the Droid OTA went out, it didn't go unitl midnight EST on it's release date. Therefore, we prolly won't see any "proof" until then.

Yes. I have been trying to remind people of the same thing. They said the rollout will begin today, that doesnt mean that it has been happening already. In the case of the Droid only 1,000 droid owners received the update on the first day, and it didnt go out until 11:59pm.
If this follows close to the same pattern, and we happen to be lucky enough that a member of these forums does receive the update tonight, we still may not hear about it until late tonight or even tomorrow.
Of course I keep refreshing, and periodically checking my phone, just because I cant help it. But in reality, I truly am not fully expecting to hear anything today even though I do believe the OTA will begin.

Now if only that sentiment were true for the "other" 2.1 threads... those are simply impossible to navigate and find information. Honestly though, this thread seems to be pretty on-topic for the most part. :D

Would anyone be able to comment on whether the update would be released across the nation simultaneously? I keep hearing midnight and 1am, one person being in Minnesota.

Out of curiousity I'd ask whether that'd be the West coast could possibly get it one/two hours earlier? Granted what's the difference, I get the update when I get the update, but it would also be nice to know that someone could feasibly have the ROM online an hour or two earlier than 1am on the West Coast as well.

That is what I am hoping to avoid.

This thread is more on topic because the off topic stuff has been removed. ;)

Lies! Lies!

Sorry OTD, that wasn't a response for your post; rather the one above. I don't wish to be admonished again, as I was yesterday.

Those are all exactly the same as v3, except the PRL (which might vary by location anyway). Even the "cl165907" and "8a03cb9a" are identical, so I seriously doubt us v3 folks will be able to receive this over the air (but instead will have to download and install manually).

That would be fine by me. Probably quicker too.
