2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

I talked to HTC..finally, and they ended up telling me that Verizon was rolling out the update as of yesterday but yes they are indeed spreading it out around the US starting in specific areas. They said that we should start to get it soon..

Crud.....that means I might never get the OTA....since there are a lot of people out there that don't even know that New Mexico is actually aprt of the United States...

Alrighty, I'm going to do a really quick explanation and try to let people who aren't so tech savvy know how this works:

I asked this before when these instructions (the complicated ones) were first posted but didn't receive an answer. Maybe you know, how would one do this on a Mac? If I receive the update and I am at home, I have a Mac. If I'm at work, I may be able to do it on my windows computer there, but instructions for a Mac would be awesome.

+1 I'm on a Mac as well, only thing that I own. If there's a way to do this on a Mac I'll save it and post it on here. Maybe, I'm on 2.1V3, so I may not get it anyway, lol!

How To Use ADB On Mac With Htc Hero - xda-developers

Sorry to do this to you, but there is some information on how to do it on a MAC. On a PC it is very easy, I have also heard of some issues with the USB driver on a MAC.

Thanks, I will check that out. And sometimes I have issues with my phone not showing up on my computer when I connect it with the USB. Haven't figured out how to fix that one yet.

Just put the phone in HTC Sync mode and it should work. Even if you don't have Sync, sometimes it needs to be there for ADB to recognize it

This works for me sometimes. I originally had that problem BECAUSE I put it in Sync mode.

As of now, I have it working again on my work desktop (by uninstalling every last USB device in my device manager) without Sync mode.

On my home laptop, I have to put it in Sync mode and it shows up 50% of the time.

On my home Chumby (gift from wife, don't ask), I used to play my MP3s off of it, but recently it started doing the disconnect thing, too.

I've just given up and have been hoping that 2.1 will resolve this once and for all. I mean, 2.1 is supposed to cure cancer and end world hunger, too, right?

I have been following this thread allll day long, hoping someone would post the link for the OTA...and i just find it really odd that with all the people that are following this thread, and all the other related threads on various android sites, none of us have received the OTA yet, and have been able to post the link. I know that if I ever receive the OTA I will do my best to share the link, just because I know what a pain it has been to sit here and wait for it. So hopefully some time soon....someone will share the link...or ill get it! :)

We are but a small portion of the Droid Eris market.

Yea, but you would think that at least one person on here would have gotten it...just kinda odd...I'm not very techie when it comes to my phone...ive been too scared to root or flash my phone because I dont know what im doing, and don't want to screw up my phone, but I'm willing to give the whole link thing a try...just cause I know theres a bunch of people dying to get their hands on the official update...lol
