I don't understand how people can be intimated by other people over the COMPUTER! Id just laugh in peoples faces if they got hostile or just simply ignore them. And nobody is forcing anybody to do anything its up to you if you choose to log it or not w.e if i get it I'm going to log .
My point was meant to be: I'm sure that there would be a lot more people that did receive the update ready to share the log of the update if they didn't read such negativity being spewed about.
I had to take my phone to Verizon had a issue when the charger plug and the home screen scrolling to the left. They are sending me a replacement, if it arrives and is running 1.5 I'm thinking root. If v3 is actually the OTA seems like a no brainer.
Can you be more specific about the HTC_IME mod? Where would I find the download for the Droid Eris if I'm already running the 2.1 leak?
:I had the SAME problem, as well as trackball issues. I took it to VZ and they discovered I had 2.1, then proceeded to tell me he warranty was voided...
Lucky you they didn't notice that!
Was that within the last few days? That doesn't seem to add up if they are now pushing out a 2.1 OTA update.
*Supposedly*

Take it back now, if you have leak v3 there is no way they can tell you have the leaked version. Just tell them you got the OTA.
Those updates in the 1st post... Leakers are worried about whether or not they will receive the OTA. It looks like you dont need to worry.

About a month ago. He said if I could get it back to 1.5 I could return it. I turned it into insurance as I had been keeping up with the "you'll never be able to downgrade". Like 2 days later, they discovered how to downgrade![]()

Yup, that's what I was thinking.
I even flashed it a few times.I question that poll, I don't think people are reading it correctly.
As of right now you still can't downgrade unless you're rooted.
V3 Leak DOES allow you to use WiFi in Airplane mode.
Why would v3 leak and the OTA be the same build numbers but different file sizes? My head hurts.
Hmm.... I just tried that, and it appears you're right. It's just not a special checkbox in the "Wi-Fi" menu like I was expecting for something like this. But I turned on "Airplane Mode" then turned on "Wi-Fi", and there it was.
I think at this point I may be guilty of hoping a little TOO hard that the "official" OTA release isn't the v3 I already have. The leak does seem to boot up a little faster, but as a trade-off, there seems to be a system-wide lagginess to everything. Things that normally respond to a press in <1 second now take 3 or 4 seconds (especially on the alarm clock).
Other mysteries I'd like solved: none of the e-mail service enhancements seem to be on the leak v3 either, unless I'm missing something. That, and there does seem to be a file size difference that's perplexing... VZW Twitter feed does say it's ~77mb.

One totally wipes everything on your phone and installs itself from scratch, and the other leaves certain things in place and just installs or upgrades whatever needs to be. That is why they are different sizes.
But the end result with either one is exactly the same. Same improvements. Missing some of the improvements that we originally were expecting. Same bugs, same build numbers etc.
OTA = upgrade...
2.1 v3 = fresh install... it wipes your phone and carries ALL system files
So basically, why are we all waiting for the OTA? Why not just flash to v3?
Because V3 is not the finished product, still has minor issues, and the OTA should correct that. As well as the OTA has a few more features.
