UPDATE 5/14 - 2.1 OTA is available to download and install, but only if you are currently running 1.5. Leakers, this is NOT for you.

UPDATE 5/12 - A lot of people have confirmed that they received the OTA, but very few on this forum. There is a lot of fear among the leakers as to whether we will receive it or not, so several of us are setting up to copy the log when the update arrives on any of our phones running 1.5. Should we be able to successfully do this, we may be able to post a link to download the OTA directly. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!

UPDATE 5/11 - The Update has officially started rolling out. HTC has confirmed that the update has begun and will continue to roll out over the next two weeks. We are getting reports that most users will receive the update within the next 48 hours though.

Hold up, that quote you have is some random post by someone who has not linked anything official from Verizon. We have heard so many different dates/time frames from Verizon reps that you can't rely on their word. In print, official word from Verizon is the only reliable source.

I agree, however I am inclined to believe this since Verizon has posted official upgrade info on their site. We will know for sure when the day comes and goes tomorrow though. :cool:

And sadly, even then its not a reliable source.
 
When someone gets this, if the people with 2.1 v3 can't get the OTA, I assume someone is going to get it up here in the forum. ??????????
 
I saw the random post, and it sparked my interest, so I called and they verified it on the phone. Please, I urge others to call customer service too. Don't mention a date, just ask them when the Eris will be updated to 2.1. That's what I did and she said May 11, 2010. I swear I'm not lying. I've been posting here for months and never made anything up...feel free to search my old posts.

Android 2.1 coming to the Verizon Droid Eris tomorrow?
 
Maybe we should hold off on the update because someone is working on rooting 2.1 v3..what do you think?
 
Looks like this could actually be legit. The Eris Update page on Verizon's site + protected apps showing up in the market + this new document = a HUGE possibility this could actually happen VERY soon.

So happy if this happens tomorrow... not holding my breath, but definitely backing everything up tonight in case it happens while I am at work. Glad I waited now hehe. Good luck and lets all hope this works out.
