wow seriously ?? make sure YOU upload the update for us all when YOU get it so everyone can have a good day because this whole thing where people are getting mad over people not uploading it for everyone is really starting to get REAL annoying. like PREVIOUSLY stated ...... not everyone is comfortable working with sdk or whatever its called so PLEASE and again i ask PLEASE just sit back and lets all wait out turn instead of getting pissed for no one uploading it. I am very confident as soon as the right person who knows what and how to do it will. always has hence 2.1 version 1 2 and 3

Perhaps the sizes are different because the OTA version has different -- ie., more advanced -- install code than the leak? :confused:

It sounds like you need to install the SDK's USB drivers. Go to your "Android SDK" folder wherever you put it on your computer, open the folder "usb_driver", right-click android_winusb.inf, and select "Install". Then un-plug and re-plug your phone to the USB cable.
 
I really like how none of these things are in the guide on the XDA forums and people have been asking how to do this for a long time and haven't gotten answers, yet you people know and just haven't shared. I'm trying all the suggestions so I'll be ready when I get the update.

Everybody knows this, but the Devs fail to put things in to language that would allow the average user to help everyone out. Rather than putting it in language that would open the possibility of any individual on these boards to help, we are still stuck waiting, hoping that a select few in here with the know how receive it and share.

Please, if you can, do this. If you do, there is no more waiting for the OTA and everyone can just install it directly to their phone. Also, it gives the devs something to work with to look at possibly rooting the official 2.1.

I took a look at the instructions yesterday in case I did get the update, but the process seemed more involved than I really felt comfortable with. The instructions make the assumption that you are a lot more intimately knowledgeable with Android, then most casual users are.
 
oh man.. i told my sister that when she gets prompted to update to tell me and dont install yet. guess what she didnt do? she didnt tell me she got prompted and she didnt NOT install! i was planning on trying to get the URL from the instructions posted! well there goes my luck.

I'm leaving my eris in my room though until i go to my room to sleep tonight. maybe by then i'll have the update waiting.

NM I gotcha now. She did install it.

my bad. i worded it kind of confusing.. "she didn't NOT install"
both the word "not" cancelled each other.. meaning she DID isntall. sorry for the confusion.

LOL yes. I got that. Just after posting, I re-read yours and realized I read wrong.
 
so now that we are getting 2.1 will 2.2 be around the corner ?? LOL
please dont comment on this ! only posting to hopefully make someone laugh from the drama and stress of the wait game going on !
