2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

I got mine in southeast Ks this AM! The only thing I dont care for is when I want to compose a text message and I go to contacts it brings up all that was on my phone and all my Facebook freinds. So most of my contacts are on there 2 or 3 times also with there email. Can I chance this to it is only my saved contacts?

Thanks for any info!

You can root if you have the OTA. Because it kept the same bootloader as 1.5 which is rootable. So this means that OTA people are still rootable as well. As far as roots being based on OTA? I dont think that has happened yet, but there are good stable, fast ROMs based off of leak V3 which is the same so... Look for those.

no

i have the OTA can i just flash v3 and be ok?

got the OTA yesterday, now when my phone rings the ringtone fades out after I pick up the phone? anyone know what that is?

Lots of people haven't gotten it...

I'm in Virginia (Roanoke) but last night I was in Birmingham Alabama and I got the notice the upgrade was available for download at about 2:30-- downloaded it this morning. I have no idea if I would have gotten it had I still been in Virginia because I don't know how it is distributed.

I like it a lot; the phone is much faster; Navigation is fantastic (and well integrated with other apps like Find Starbucks). I also had a terrible experience with keypad delays on the phone app in 1.5; now it is very smooth and reliable.

On the other hand battery life is atrocious, so far....

One thing about the Navigation feature, you absolutely, positively HAVE to use a car charger when using the Nav feature, otherwise your battery dies in less than an hour, I know, I tried it just to see how long it would last on a two hour trip.

this update sucks! I cant even delete a txt thread with 50 messages!!!! this is stupid
ok. To delete a text thread, as in to remove the whole conversation? Long press on the thread to delete and it will give you options on what to do. Then just pick delete. To remove just one message in a thread long press the one you wish to delete and the same options will appear.
Hope this helps.

Yea, I think they meant that it takes a good amount of time to delete threads of more than 40 or 50 messages. :D

My fiance got her update this morning, still waiting on mine, both bought and activated at the same time, confirms to me the randomness, hope it's there tomorrow morning....

Turn the screen off (by hitting the Home button). You still get the nav instructions, just not the map. Either that or put it on a car adapter.

As for the text deletion, try "SMS Backup" in the market. It sends all your text messages to your gmail, and you can keep your phone clean.

For those still waiting, try what worked for my fiance.

Go to the phone dialer and type --> *#*#checkin#*#*

It will then proceed to check for updates and might tell you a system update is available.

Yeah. We're in the same boat. We got our phones at the same time but she got her OTA last night and I'm still waiting for mine. Seems to favor the person who doesn't care as much about getting it. ;)
