2.1 Performance

I force-updated, and think that the phone is performing very well. My question (probably from my many years with Windows XP) is whether or not doing a factory reset after the update would improve the performance of the phone or clean out "junk."

I rooted before and tried a few different ROMs, and I don't want any unnecessary junk floating around in my file system.

I did a factory reset on mine due to some issues I was having, I can tell ya even after putting all my apps back on the phone, its nice and fast. Home++ seemed to have a little lag before the reset and the other apps there were having issues are no longer.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. I just don't want to re-install all my apps.

I wiped EVERYTHING (including my SD card) before installing 2.1. My performance is stellar.

When you do a factory reset, where do you reload your data from? I realize contacts will come back from Gmail, but things like documents and photos... do you copy those to your computer first and just transfer them back or what?

I would invest in something like MyBackup Pro

interesting idea. I might try the factory reset when I get back from work. Does Verizon charge for reactivating my phone after reset? I'm almost sure they don't but just checking..

Hey, I have a thread about this, but regardless it fits in here too...I have a big problem with my SMS force closing, ALL the time! and I was just wondering, should i hard reset my phone and just force update?
