Help 2.1- update 1?

I bought a Huawei ascend and I see that the firmware version is 2.1- update 1. Dose this mean that it has been updated once or is it that I have one update to do? If it is that I have one update to do how do I do it ?

It's already received the update for 2.1. There isn't anything for you to do.

Now when the update for 2.2 comes out that is another story.

It means google updated 2.1 slightly before Huawei even got their hands it to create your phone's rom.

Froyo is now up to 2.2.1 and gignerbread is up to 2.3.3, for example.
