2.1 update and message spam

Perhaps it's just a coincidence, but I've never had any text-message spam before. Since getting updated to 2.1 three days ago, I've had several. I don't use my phone number on ANY website or form. Anyone else noticing this?

Can't say that I have. Only text messaging issue I encounter is the occasional double message received, but I think that's an issue with the Handcent app I'm using rather than the phone or firmware itself.

What kind of spam is it? VZW promotional stuff or more like actual spam?

i just got the incredible yesterday and downloaded several apps (specifically, skyfire browser, npr, pri, weatherbug), and started getting spam text messages today:

"Love my Droid. Get MixZing, music player, Lookout for virus, voice search works well, love Google integration"

"Panda Home gives 11 screens instead of 3. Smooth interface with Amazon mp3"

"Google Sky is really cool."

Anyone else get similar texts?
