Help 2.2.1 Email forwarding bug a problem?

[Katarain]

I have the optimus v running android 2.2.1. Is the email bug that was fixed for 2.2.2 a problem for these phones? (The bug I'm referring to forwarded a random email from your inbox to a random contact, according to the websites which detail the differences between android 2.2.1 and 2.2.2.)

Was it a problem with any email app, or just the email app that comes with the phone? What about gmail? If I download K9, will it be a problem there?

Any info is appreciated!

Any way to fix this problem without rooting?.

I've done some searching, and while the pages referring to the bug fix for 2.2.2 call it an email problem, it looks like it's actually a text messaging problem. See here: Android still has horrible text messaging bugs that'll get you fired, busted, or otherwise embarrassed -- Engadget

As far as I can tell, anyway. I searched through the comments and only found 2 mentions of the optimus line. One person didn't have the problem, and one person did.
