Maybe I'm missing something here but after all the guides I've read I can't seem to figure out why if I'm on 2.2.2 with custom recovery why you have to downgrade first. Can someone enlighten me?

Just looking to flash to anything that isn't this shitty stock rom.Using amon ra at the moment. Not too concerned about fastboot because this will probly be the only flash it gets. Everything just referenced that guide and didn't mention a specific reason for it. (that i could see) and from all the reading it seems the guide is kinda risky all in itself. So should I be able to flash velocity over this w/o doing anything special then?
The guide is only risky if you don't know what you're doing... and if you try and follow the LGMU guide instead of the LGNPST. All you have to do is boot into recovery, make a backup/nandroid with everything but .android-secure and sd-ext, wipe ALL user data, flash the ROM and patch, and reboot.

If you already have Amon Ra recovery you could just flash Velocity 1.1 if you want to. I would probably wait on Velocity 1.2 for a week or two, it works well but still seems to have some glitches that need to be worked out. As far as Stormdroid goes I don't think it's even available for download right now, but I might be wrong on this. It looked like a nice ROM though.

Also wanted to double check cuz i was a bit confused on the whole baseband radio getn flashed thing. i remember something abt it bein in the update guide. if i rooted n gokt a custom recov on im in the clear right? And as to the stormdroid, they just released an update today.
