2.2 must-have apps?

Hey guys, recently just rooted my phone for the first time ever and I'm running Cognition. I have to say, so far I'm very impressed as the phone is a LOT snappier and my battery life seems to now be amazing.

That being said, are there any apps you guys suggest or that stand out for Froyo vs Eclair??

Thanks :)

Having 2.2 makes it possible for you to install Adobe Air, which opens up your phone to install a ton of new apps that require Air. I haven't tried Cognition yet, so I don't really have any suggestions for you, but I'm jealous that you can install these apps now!

Hear Hear! Chrome to Phone is one of the most over-looked yet awesome aspects of Froyo...

I hadn't played with it much until recently, but Chrome-to-Phone is even better than I first thought. Mainly because it's context sensitive to the type of data you're pushing to your phone:

CTP using the icon and the current URL is sent and your browser opens

Right-click on a link or image and you get that specific item in your browser (vs. current URL)

If the link is from Google maps, the GMap app opens (vs. the browser) with the location

If the link is Google maps with directions, it opens the GMap app directly into the directions mode (one button to activate navigation)

Highlight text and it's sent to the clipboard (where you can paste into any app: notes, email, etc.)

Highlight text that's a phone number, and it opens your phone/dialer app

If the current URL is YouTube, it opens the native YouTube app.

I know, it was the one (well, other than a functioning GPS  ) that I noticed/missed switching from the N1 to the Captivate. I think I clicked the chrome extension button for like two months and actually at least once had to remind myself that the article I was trying to finish reading wasn't pushed to my phone because it is on 2.1, not because it was broken! It was odd how much of a reflex clicking/using that extension/app had become even after just two months...

Also the free wireless AP was awesome too, but in hindsight, I think I used it maybe twice the whole 2 months I had the N1 on 2.2... It would still be worth rooting just to have around though...

Skype I think only works on 2.2. I wouldn't know of course because I am stuck in my 2.1 land and still too scared to step into the custom rom world.

i just installed the perception 8 rom from xda man i love it i couldn't wait no longer it too me a little while and some reading to figure out how to flash it but i am so happy i did

seems alot faster and cleaner no lag what so ever and gps locks right away indoors

love it !!!!!
