Root 2.2 on Eris

Is this the update that's supposed to fix the silent bug and all the other BS issues that have been going on with the Eris since the last update? If so, could someone please teach this technological idiot how to update/fix my phone? I don't know what rooting, tethering, cupcaking, or any of those other fancy words mean! LOL

So this works well enough to still be able to use your phone normally? Like for texting and making calls without a problem?

You can root 2.1, but it has to be the OTA version of 2.1. People who installed the leaks or used the RUU to get 2.1 got stuck with a different bootloader that makes rooting a PITA.

Yeah I rooted my 2.1 a few days after getting my phone. Hahaha I accidentally just installed one of the 2.1 leaks. But I was still able to install a different rom. I'm pretty sure as long as you have Amon's recovery image installed you can just wipe your phone and put a different rom on it, then unroot from that.

Its an Eris thing.

My phone has the infamous 1.49 HBOOT bootloader. Which is practically unrootable. There is one way to do it, but only maybe 20 or so people have done it, since it relies on perfect timing to do.
