Help 2.2 update and kies???

How the bloody h**l do I get the kies program to see the phone. The phone goes through the initializing then will say connected. The computer however just tells me to connect my device...am I missing something? I installed all the drivers and kies seems to be present on the computer. If it matters attempting this on a toshiba laptop running windows 7 home

It's frustrating. I was finally able to get it to run on my Win 7 desktop but I don't remember what I did to get it to run. It just worked one time and that was enough.

I'm ******ed is all. I failed to remember you have to set the usb setting to kies, THEN turn on usb debugging. After I did so it took just fine. They really should tell people this in the directions
