Root 2.2 Update and New or Refurb Phones?

Once the Froyo is rolled out will they start shipping refurb and new phones with the update pre installed? I ask because supposedly the update is extremely secure and it will be quite a while before it is rooted (just what I heard). So if I brick/lose/break my phone after the update and have to get another one will I be stuck without root?
 
from my experience with the Eris,the first week, maybe two you may see old software after that its all updated before shipped out for your "convenience"
 
Yea it takes a while for them to catch up. If its a big software thing, the techs in the stores will update them manually or through the computer..
 
Ugh, so after the update if we break our phones we are basically out of luck as far as rooting goes...

I guess Ill just have to be extra careful.
 
yes and no, the devs are awesome, with the eris, it took some time, but now its the easiest to root. with all the goodies.
