Help 2.2 Update - Calendar crashes

genhob

Lurker
Got the upgrade to 2.2 the other day. Overall the phone seems much faster. However the calendar app crashes and hangs constantly. It also seem to be sucking battery power at an alarming rate.

Is there anyway I get reset the calendar app? Flush it's cache or something?

Did a factory reset and the calendar app is now rock solid. In fact, there is a lot less crashes with all of my apps now.

The only downside is that Weather bug will no longer run.

This is all related to the flakey 3G connection since the 2.2 upgrade.

I have yet to go an entire day without losing 3G, usually not even realizing it until I already missed an important email.

Test your 3G as soon as you boot up.

This morning, I turned on my phone. Strange that I had no emails, so I tested the 3G, and no connection. I put it in airplane mode and back again, and then had emails. However, the calendar was messed up and kept crashing. So I rebooted, and had 3G after the reboot, and the calendar was fine.

Moral of the story, check your 3G connection, and when there is an outtage, which will likely happen several times daily, do a complete reboot and your calendar and most other apps will be stable.

Unfortunately, weather bug has never worked since this pathetic upgrade. I've deleted and reinstalled several times. No luck. So I use Weather channel now. Maybe the next app upgrade will fix it.

+1 on the weather bug problem. Crashes EVERY time now.

Upgraded to elite version and it is only slightly better. Anything but front page and it will crash.

Calendar trick:

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Apps -> all -> Calendar -> clear data

This will clear all of your calendar data. Now if your calendar is synched with another calenday, such as exchange or gmail, it will automatically resynch itself, and 99 out of a 100 times, the calendar will continue working perfectly again.

Be careful, if you do not the synch the calendar, then clearing the data might remove all data in the "My Calendar" stored on your phone, and you could lose all future appointments.

It's best to synch with an external calendar.
