Turn it off when you get in the shower. You do take a shower now and again right? I'm sure there are times when you are allowed some privacy in your life, that's when you bump charge. No explaining necessary.

Just reluctantly reset mine. Got the ota on the first launch day and havent been very happy. I was about the first person to complain on here about laggy and choppy scrolling, laggy typing, worse battery life, etc. Also noticed that if i tapped the screen when it was about to shut off that it would not come back to full brightness. Also, i dont get a sms notification if the sms screen is still active.

So far the reset seems to have fixed the laggy scrolling and typing, although the scrolling still is choppier than 2.1 but at least its not laggy

Did not fix the sms notification bug. not happy about that!!!!!

Too early to tell about the battery life. After the ota my battery seems like it is 20-25% worse compared to 2.1
 
I'm willing to try a factory reset. But for all of those who have done so, how do you prepare for it, as far as saving things/settings? Thanks.

After getting back online and activating phone, contacts popped back in perfect, SD was fine (contact pictures even came back in), setup all email accounts and everything came back fine. Only issue was I forgot to document the WEP codes for my WiFi but not a biggie. Now to see how my battery works. ::fingers crossed::

How do you back up your SD?
 
I updated via zip file and have had no issues. I am up to 11 hours battery life on the stock battery. Before the update I had 9.5 hours. I did notice I have a different prl than another droid inc. Not sure that could be a reason or not.

Been there, done that, and a few minutes later they're back on. Part of the bloatware shoved on us all along with 2.2. After all, Verizon knows what we need to be running all the time better then we do... :mad:

Just did this yesterday... made sure you run BackupAssistant before starting anything. Make sure you also make a backup of you SD card. Then I manually documented the apps I had and use... this is one of the big benefits from a factory reset, when I first got the phone I was installing apps like mad, uninstalling, installing, etc. This cleaned all the crud off. Your apps you need to install all over again. Since Market is linked to Google account anything you purchased still shows as purchased and you can just download and install again without re-purchasing, that was one of my big worries.

Also a BIG THING to remember, document ALL your email account settings, servers, usernames, passwords, ports... etc. I will make is real easy to recover that stuff after reset. And be prepared to re-enter your WEP codes for you WiFi so you can get back online.

All my contact pictures and stuff came back in and BackupAssistane worked flawlessly.

Question of my own.... running solid after factory reset and do NOT have task killer installed. I understand a lot of things can sit idle without drain, but some things like when I run SlingBox Player, or SportsTap, or TaskList, or Verizon FIOS DVR Manager, they stay "running" but I probably don't need them again that day. Other then going into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Running and then force close those apps one at a time, is there any way short of ATK to quickly kill the things you're done with?

app called system panel comes with a widget you can use to end all apps quickly.
 
Active Sync is a hog. I have my exchange set to recieve messages as the appear, this is causing the phone to stay "awake" longer. Yesterday I got great battery life and was scratching my head as to what was different. When I did the factory reset, it defaults Exchange Active sync to the following settings:

Peak time
Days
mon,tue,wed,thu,fri
Peak time start
8:00 am
Peak time end
8:00 pm

Frequency
Peak times
As items arrive
Off peak times
Every Hour

The syncing every hour extended my battery tremendously. In just under 12 hours I used less than 50%. Normally i run through the battery in 8 hours.
 
I also noticed the battery drain while using the google navigator while having the phone plugged into the car charger. My job requires that I travel a lot and I must constantly use the navigator. THE phone can't keep up with the charge which makes three phone useless to me. I did a factory and that didn't help at all. I also noticed that the battery didn't last as long either. I called verizon and spoke with customer service and tech support and they stated that that they were aware that the phone doesn't charge as quickly as it use to. I explained that the update made my phone useless for my job. She said that she would send me a replacement phone. I told her that made no sense as that still wouldn't fix the charging issue that she stated Verizon and HTC were aware of. She stated I was right. (no kidding) I told her that I wanted a different phone as this was their mistake. She spoke with her supervisor and I will be getting a brand new Droid X on Wednesday. The incredible has been good phone but this 2.2 OTA update was a joke.
 
I am having big issues with my phone resetting a lot now. I did factory reset already and seems to have made it even worse. Is there a way to reinstall 2.2 maybe? Would doing another reset do any good for me?
 
I just got off the phone with Verizon and they are sending me a new 2150 mAH battery free. It will be here Wednesday (because Monday is Labor day).
 
This is exactly what I wrote about yesterday after using google navi, it drained my battery even though I was using the car charger. I still think this is a major design flaw the way it is now u can lose ur directions to get somewhere because ur battery will die and it won't charge fast enough via car. I like this phone and don't really want to switch though. It worries me how long its gonna take for Verizon to fix this.

What? You have got to be kidding. Someone please confirm this. I'm going to drive today for about 2 hours and I'm putting Radio Time on with the car charger on to see for myself. Major design flaw? If this is true it's more than that, it's a disaster. Now, one thing I must say, I'm on a rooted SkyRaider 3.0 Vanilla rom with setcpu running.

We are not kidding. I have a trip I need to leave for on tuesday andI'll be gone until friday. I won't get my New phone until I come back. Verizon really dropped the ball on this one.

Are you rooted or OTA? I'll let you know later what happens with a rooted one.
 
Just an FYI, my battery life has dramatically increased. As of yesterday, prior the battery warning popping up, I had gotten 49 hours of usage. This is with moderate use. I have no widgets that are constantly updating. Screen brightness on lowest setting. So, to each their own.
 
Since 2.2 I've noticed that everything seems a bit slower, less fluid, and I've seen so many little annoying glitches. Also, scrolling in the browser is PATHETIC
 
Anyone else notice that you can no longer stop the browser from loading multiple pages? I have the box unchecked and still get all these pages opening when I use the stock browser...

My bat life is OK but maybe this is killing some peoples battery?
 
If anyone is having this issue with google maps and the verizon car charger not keeping a charge and losing battery while in your car then you owe it to yourself and others to contact HTC and Verizon to let them know of this issue. If you don't tell them they won't know anything is wrong.

Anyone have any suggestions or insight to help us get a full day out of the phone? Any insight into when this "patch" will arrive?

I'm using 2.2 and I'm getting 12-18 hours a day. No problems at all. I haven't noticed any difference. Task managers don't work, they will make your problems worse. Customer Service reps don't know what they're talking about.
