Going into the settings and forcing your phone to check for a system update doesn't prompt you to download one?

I learned that all you need to update your phone from M070-M080 or from that to M100 is to have not uninstalled VZNavigator or the built-in weather widget. It only checks for those apps and their checksums, so reinstalling the same app with a different checksum won't work (I took apart a update.dat file from Innopath and figured it out

So that confirms what I had already concluded, that my Commando will stay an update orphan at M070. VZ navigator was one of the first apps I froze then uninstalled. Nonetheless the root access allows tethering to my tablet and my laptop, and that functionality is more useful to me than anything in the updates. ICS is sweet, and I have an alpha build of it (CM9) on my tablet, but I don't believe ICS will ever come to the Commando.
