Root 2.3.340 before installing rom?

Im rooted fixing to install a rom, probably going to go with apex 1.3.1. Apex seems to be a reliable easy to use rom that lots are using. My question is do I need to install 2.3.340 before I do or is it just personal preference? What's the benefit to upgrading to 2.3.340 and is it that risk?

If I remember correctly, Apex 1.3.1 will take you to .340

If you are on 2.3.315 you need to upgrade to either 2.32.320 or 2.3.340 before loading ApeX.

ApeX install will only update the System files, it doesn't touch the Bootloader, Baseband and Kernel.

Didn't you just post that your replacement X came with .340?

Different replacement. I actually took that one back because it would force close every 10 minutes. I'm on replacement number 5 now. This one didn't but I did get an update for. 340
