2.3.340 Findings/Fixes....

Looks like they FINALLY fixed the issue with specail characters (I.e. & $ -, etc) deleting the prior space.

DX was rooted, door closed & will be re-rooting.

Great, no idea how to find that. ughhh.
Well, you can start by copying the contents of your SD Card to your PC. Format the SD card and then move some files back at a time until you find the trouble file.

Brute force, but I bet it works.

If gallery works with a blank SD card, you know you are in the right direction.

Also, you could just use the nexus one Gallery 3D apk that's out there and that works fine, even with the corrupted file.

Not sure if they screwed something up in this gallery or what exactly, but this is the 3rd report of the same problem, so something is up.

I did have a corrupted video (it wouldn't play in mvideopayer when I clicked through in using Gallery 3D) and that was my key that that it was the problem file).

I finally got the update this morning.

So for the only thing I see is I'm getting a 1X where I normally get 3G. what's up with that?

Edit///

3G is back FULL force!

Update downloaded but failed to install twice. I'm running Froyo, rooted & deodexed (928). Using Titanium, I defrosted my frozen apps and still no success.

Anyone else (rooted no custom ROM) having this issue and figured it out?

I was rooted, but unrooted using z4root before I tried to install my update.

Thanks Big Cat! Now for a newb question... what do I do with .apk files? (besides copy them to my SD card that is).

Are there specific instructions I should follow to unroot or is it pretty straight forward -- just follow the commands in z4root?

Go to files and find the apk on your sd card and tap it. Should install and then after that it is just the tap of a button and you are gtg....:D

It is very straight forward...once you have download it you will see the button that says unroot, tap it and your phone will be unrooted. very easy.

z4root sure takes awhile

EDIT: how long does it usually take? It's going on 7 minutes. a friend told me it only took him about a minute and a reboot to root his with z4

Hopefully final question... if I did not use z4root to root my phone... but want to use it to unroot, will that be a problem?

No that will not be a problem. I rooted my phone using another method, but unroot with z4root.

Shouldn't be an issue, just click the unroot button and Walla!!! :D

Thank you! big help!

UPDATE - z4root is frickin awesome. I now have the 2.3.340 update, root was removed... z4root gave it back to me inside of 60 seconds. Am making a backup now with Bootstrapper. Flawless! AWESOME!!

Really?
Took a couple of seconds for me and it was unrooted.

Since this update has rolled out I have noticed that when my phone is locked it is showing me the end of the backgroud photo instead of the part of the photo that is on my home screen...this happening to anyone else?

I'm trying to root it.

UPDATE: Tried it twice and it didn't give me root :(

Woah, the gallery appears to be awesomely improved. It's smooth and fast and better laid out now.

Ohh okay...I used visionary to root and it took about 10 minutes...I think most methods of rooting take a little bit of time. How long is it taking?
Just tried it for the third time... hoping it works this time

Sigh.. nope

Going to give Visionary a shot.
