I just updated my phone with 2.3.6 9100XXKL1 I9100OXAKL1 Open Europe

Things look OK appart from the Y & Z keys on the samsung keyboard are the wrong way around ! ! !

QWERTY is now QWERTZ
and
ZXCVB is now YXCVB

Looks like you have selected a german keyboard!

I know but when I go to the settings and select English (UK) It wont change. :(
Swype seems to be installed now (wasn't there on my 2.3.4) so Have used that.

My update was open Europe to 2.3.6 However my previous CSC was German (DBT) and still is for some reason.
After Update the phone was German - Just like the first time I got it.

I Wish Pixmania gave me a UK phone !! !!!!!

Why not just install a 3rd party keyboard from the market. Quite a few good ones to choose from.
I'm using ICS keyboard and works great.

You Can go back to defaults by

Removing Battery
Placing back battery
Use volume up, screen lock and home button to start
When Galaxy screen shows (first screen) release buttons.

You will get a start menu...

select the preferred action there.

Make a backup first !!

OK Tried to clear cache again and then did a reset. Still nothing (phone went back to German first so I had to select English)

It seems the ROM could be to blame here - I though it was open but it may be reading my German csc????
Swype keyboard has a English version but the Samsung one still isnt changing.

I just got a galaxy S2, the QWERTY was reading QWERTZ
I found the problem and fixed it as follows:
Go into Settings
Then' Language and Keyboard'
Then pick 'Samsung Keypad'
Then pick 'Input Languages'
In here, my phone had "CESTINA" selected, so I unselected that one and selected "ENGLISH(UK)" and the keyboard is now QWERTY.
