2.3 Gingerbread

H
I have been getting asked to download 3.30.651.3 since last week to an firmware update which I thought was ginger bread right but I see now its not. The thing is since I have new Evo I have 3.30.651.2 which suposedly already has the fix for the camera for qik. My phone has asked me 4 times to do the update. And again will I be able to root.
Which I have used qik its never rebooted me but it was insaley slow because of qiks overflorwed servers. Now the only reason I want to udate to 3.30.651.3 is because you need it for Clear Sea which is amazing very fast video confrencing app.

But I hear people are having a hard time rooting it so thats my question any one know the answer.

You'll probably get a better answer in the EVO All Things Root forum. EVO 4G - All Things Root - Android Forums

So I just left one of our dealers here and the girls there said 'for sure' they got gingerbread on their shop incredible. I have the incredible. I told her I doubt it but she was sure...I'm sure its the software 2.3 not Android 2.3 lol

sorry, why was I quoted? :)

It is a OS that runs on all android phones. They are talking about android 2.3 which just came out but has not come out for any phones.

I do not want the gingerbread update "when it comes out" I am satisfied running DX_GummyJAR-1.8.1 and using launcher pro plus...I have the black status bar, the 3d app drawer, gingerbread keyboard, and no need to overclock. I am running fast as fuk, temp is low, and battery is lasting twice as long. This is a must have Rom!!!

Can anyone help me find how to update this phone to any version 2.2 or 2.3 ?

TOPS A1- or HTC A1- or HTC Touch Diamond 2

Thanks in advanced.

Since this is an Android forum, you'll find very little support for non-android devices like your Touch Diamond. XDA is probably the place to go for what you're trying to accomplish. If you have any questions related to the Android OS itself, though, this is the place to ask!

A friend of mine who works for motorola doing some university relations or some crap said that he feels that alot of us may be getting screwed on updates in the future, and that alot of phones will get updates based on their "kill Sheet" and made an excellent point that the longer companies update software to the most current the longer people will wait to buy new phones. Motorola and Samsung do not make money on making your phone last 3 years. Makes sense, and makes me sad:(

Buyers have more of the power than you may realize. Are you going to replace your obsolete 2.1 phone with the same company who refuses to update it...or would you go with the company who continues to provide updates a couple of years after deployment?

Android is still relatively young, so it may be too early to determine, but which manufacturer seems like the most apt to upgrade at this point? That's probably who will get my next sale...

I would change to the company that updates. I would say when it comes to android 2.1 and 2.2 motorola was the fastest but htc did pretty good. But the dell streak still sadly runs on android 1.6, so dell is not good at updating.

I thought HTC had Froyo on the Evo before any of the Droids? I got it on mine the first week of August.

No the motorola droid got it a couple of weeks before the evo.

Close. For the original Droid, the original 2.2 roll out started on August 3rd. The second, fixed one started on August 24th.

By comparison, the Evo started it's 2.2 roll out on August 3rd. So while both phones started at the same time, the Evo did it in one wave and was finished earlier. The Droid was pegged to be the first non-N1 to receive 2.2, but delays ruined that plan.

Well I have a droid incredible and thought that it and the evo got 2.2 at the same time. But guess I was wrong. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

My phone came with 2.2 a few weeks ago it got 2.2.1. Yesterday it got 2.3. Sorry folks root is where its at. The 2.3 was a beta rom kinda buggy so I went back to CM6.1.1

Since December 2010, we've seen:

Android: (6 releases)
2.0
2.0.1
2.1
2.2
2.2.1
2.3

iOS: (10 updates)
3.1.3
3.2
3.2.1
3.2.2
4
4.0.1
4.0.2
4.1
4.2
4.2.1

Some people see these as upgrades I see some of them as fixing rushed product not completed when shipped. Ok from 2 to 2.1 to 2.3 yes upgrades but 2.2 to 2.2.1 or 4.2 to 4.2.1 thats a rushed screw up fix.
