Ive a Desire - which is great etc...

What i want to know is that checking the htc site it says the Desire has 512 - some of this is taken with sense/android...

The Desire S has 768mb of memory...

= does the 768 of mem. 'include the memory take up' of 2.3 or is it seperate of the size of 2.3 ??????????

There are three types of memory on the Desire S: ROM, RAM and the SD card.

The ROM on the Desire S is 1.1GB in size. It's used to store the Android OS, firmware, HTC Sense and some stock/branded apps that come with the phone. By default, subsequent apps are stored on the ROM, although after installation you may have the option of transferring them to the SD card.

The 768MB RAM isn't used for storage like the ROM or the SD card; it's exclusive of the OS and apps, etc. It's for the temporary storage of cache and system processes, and its usage and the amount of RAM available will depend on the type of apps and processes you have running at any particular time.

So, the available amount of a new Desire S's internal storage (ROM) capacity should be over 800MB (1.1GB minus the OS, firmware, HTC Sense, and stock apps). And don't forget an 8GB SD card comes as standard with the phone. You shouldn't have to worry about the RAM - it will look after itself.
