2.3

I've seen on the Phandroid home page that the Nexus One is set to receive the developers version of 2.3 soon.

How long do people think we will be see this coming to the DHD?

A lot less time that it'll take to get to the Galaxy S (if ever!).

Seriously though, HTC haven't been too bad. The original Desire (Sense and all) was something like 2 months behind the Nexus One. Not bad at all imo.

agreed, as long as we get it, im happy as dandy. always takes time to integrate Sense into any new update. I do hope we get 3.0 if that ever gets released :)

because im getting a sim free/unlocked model DHD, that means i will get the update before those that purchase the handset through the carriers right?

That's usually the case but at the moment the UK carriers don't seem to have branded ROMs on their phones. That could well change over time though.

Either way, you should get it pretty much first.

Depends on your carrier I guess. It just arrived to Telus

True, but that can't really be blamed on HTC and the carriers who are bad at holding up updates (eg T-Mobile UK) are going to delay the firmware regardless of how quick the manufacturer is.

I think it will be delayed on the Desire HD and Z. There seems to be a few problems first to iron out with 2.2 and the new sense before HTC get stuck into 2.3. I reckon we won't see it till late December.

Big question is..... Whats new and improved on 2.3?

What makes you think they'd bother 'fixing' 2.2, rather than investing their time in 2.3? To me it would be illogical, and IMO there's nothing seriously wrong with 2.2 in any case, least not on my phone.

With all the problems with the Galaxy S, I am surprised google are going with Samsung to make the Nexus 2... Although is it 100% confirmed that Samsung are making it?

I've posted a few times that it would be madness. Anyway, hasn't been confirmed in any way shape or form.

I read somewhere that 3.0+ will be designed for the tablet market, although some phones with high enough spec, such as the DHD, might get it too.
No one really knows other than the programmers i guess.

I heard the same. I reckon todays phones won't be in mind for Android 3.0. With dual core cpus around the corner, more ram, more everything I think Android 3 will be for a whole different generation of phones/tablets.
