Root 2.3?

I use CM7 nightly as my daily Rom. Some people have had issues with their GPS. Thankfully I don't really use gps.

It's really solid. The only two things I miss from sense are the camera app and dialer.

Here's a link to the xda post where you might want to go to see what other people are having issues with.
[INFO/FAQ] Unofficial Cyanogen Mod 7 Nightly (1/24 - I smell bacon!) - xda-developers

Ohh and when you go from let's say build 15 to 18, make sure you wipe cache and dalvik.

Evervolv is very solid as well, and FAST , just serach for evervolv in the xda forums. only thing that doesnt work on Evervolv is the GPS is spotty when using "turn by turn" directions. Everything else works, dialer, both cameras front and back, camcorder etc...

4g as well?

I've been using OMFGB for about a week now. They just released 1.1 the other day. Rom is very stable and everything works, but not absolutley sure about GPS as I don't use it. I tried Evervolv, love the fonts but I like OMFGB better cuz of the power control in the pull down window

Isn't Android amazing! And the devs! And the folks here on AF! And the EVO section in particular, great folks here!!!!! Where else can get such quick, free, and helpful replies to questions about such an amazing product?;) What would we do without them?

On a side note, and not to pinpoint you, Jim, ;) but your post got me to thinking....I can't tell you how many times I have read "everything works on this xyz rom", and then "oh yeah, except for this and that", or "I haven't tried this", or "I have found problems with that, but the rom is perfect". This just highlights how versatile Android realy is. It is truly different things to different people, and it can be what ever you make of it. One rom might be just right for one person, but not quite right for another. As an example, some don't need, say, Sprint Visual Voice Mail, while others may find it necessary, or GPS. But there are many choices.. It's all about choices and customization options! It is doubtful I will ever own a NON-Android phone. :) :D

I went from Nextel to a Hero to the evo, never looking back. Android all the way! AOSP / CM7 on the Hero is awesome, I'm very close to rooting my evo. I love the AOSP mods, very stable from my experience. :D

thanks Ill have to try OMFGB, cuz the only thing that Evervolv is missing for me is the power notifications in the drag down.
Also the only thing I miss with AOSP as a whole is that I cannot find a way to get hi res pics for contacts either for the call screen or a widget.
