Help 2 inspires, 2 bad gps' after a couple weeks

I traded in my first Inspire for a replacement after the GPS started working less reliably after a couple weeks.

Now, a couple weeks into owning this one, I am (frustratingly) experiencing weird problems again.

Yesterday I tried using the GPS to navigate to a club in Baltimore... On the way down, I never got a solid gps lock in navigation. And, oddly enough, on the way back home, the lock was rock solid all the way.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is a defect with the Inspire itself, even though I haven't heard of many people having the same problems. The only "weird" thing I do with my GPS is use c:geo, a geocaching application... I'm wondering if this somehow tampers with GPS settings and starts to affect the gps tracking itself?

I do not use a case. I have not rooted or flashed the phone (nor did I on the previous model).. I really can't think about much else that I might be doing that could be affecting the gps.

Anyone have any ideas?

were you using google nav?

my gps works great, i would say uninstall that geo app and then try the nav again to see if that was causing an issue

my findings after 2 inspires for GPS problems is that its a nav issue. you'll find when nav wont lock, other GPS programs will still work just fine. in fact, often just loading maps instead of nav will reacquire. or, that GPS status app everyone uses, I cant think of the name of it right now

Believe it or not, I am having the exact same problem. GPS for my Inspire has been non-existent. I actually had a Captivate before this and you know the rest of the story with that one... Now I have the new Inspire and it is giving me the same issues. I have been to two different corporate ATT stores and tried it on multiple HTC Inspire phones there and would you believe it... a lot of the phones have this issue.

A great app to use to see the connectivity is called "GPS Status". This will show you a real-time display of the satellites your phone is hooked up to. The icon is grey with an orange satellite on it.

On my visit today to a corporate ATT store, I had them pull out a brand new Inspire and try and connect. The new Inspire barely had 1 or 2 connections. The actual Inspire floor model was connecting to around 7 satellites. We would hold all 3 phones (mine included) side by side and only the floor model was able to connect to a bunch of satellites.

We might have another Captivate issue on our hands. The workers at ATT were baffled and had no idea what to do. Obviously I would exchange it for a new one, but the new one has the same issue.

They gave me a number to call to get advanced technical support, so I will call that tonight to see what they can do.

If anyone finds out anything regarding this, please hit me up at joe3436 * hotmail * com

I hope this isn't an issue with all the phones. GPS is one main reason why I'm dumping the captivate.

I spoke to HTC last night and they said it is a known issue and they are working on a fix. Once they figure it out, they will roll it out with an update. Terrible... It's the Samsung Captivate story all over again... unreal!
