Help 2 notifications for every email.

Hi there,

New android user, I got myself a GSII and i'm having a weird push/notification issue.

I'm trying to have my emails (gmail) only in the social hub but if i deactivate the email sync for the gmail account so it doesn't appear in the gmail app, then i have to pull emails in social hub.
If i leave it activated then i receive emails in both the gmail app and social hub, so i get 2 notifications on screen, 2 sounds, etc...
If i deactivate notifications on one or the other then I don't get any.

Can anyone help me figure out how to have a functional push mail that only gives me one notification per email?

Thanks in advance :)

EDIT:It seems that even when it's all configured to work social hub push mail seems to randomly stop working.

Well now my social hub seems to be stuck on refreshing and is either refreshing constantly or the message is stuck there.

Is there some sort of all around fix maneuver like the battery pull on blackberrys?

leave both syncing but go into gmail app, settings and uncheck notification. that should keep your push service running but only give you social hub notifications.

Thanks.
I've tried that and i got nothing. Although it might be because my social hub seems buggy now.

EDIT: Also, on a possibly related note, I don't get facebook notifications unless i actually go in the facebook app. Are push things just finicky on the GS2/android or is it just mine?

I had a similar thing with the 2 notifications when I first got my GS2. I just removed my Gmail account from the Samsung Email app and all is fine. I only get my emails shown in the notification bar but side down and click on it. I still get sound with it as well and just click on the Gmail widget to bring it up. Not sure if that was what you were looking for?

That's sort of what happens right now actually because push mail just stopped working on the samsung app. ideally i'd like to use just the samsung app and not the gmail one but since it doesn't seem to be working i guess i'll settle on the gmail one.

How do you actually remove the account from the samsung app though? I don't seem to have that option (or most likely, i can't find it)

Try this.
Go to gmail. Menu, More, Settings, check your email address, Labels to notify. You should see Inbox and Priority inbox. Make sure only one has the "notify in status bar checked" or you will have to notifications.
Happened to me and i fixed it this way. Works fine now.

priority inbox is already off. :(

the 2 notifications are slightly different, one is gmail the other social hub so the icon in notification is slightly different. Although right now I'm only getting one because push on social hub is broken again...

Maybe ICS will solve it all :p

This tip worked for me.
