2 Questions - WiFi only? PC Replacement?

It's tough for me, because I've forgone replacing my dead laptop for plans to by a tablet instead. I cab always use the wife's laptop if needed and eventually but one for myself if I really need one. Point is, I'd probably be willing to pay as much as $850 for the Xoom, keyboard, and docking station.

We'll have to see. I almost bought the Adam when pre-orders first went up. So I suppose prices of compatible tablets will have to be factored in. I just ready like that the Xoom is so sleek. I hate all thr clunky tablets.

I went on the Handtec website and it is priced between the iPad 32GB and 64GB, both with 3G. Since the XOOM has 32GB and a boatload of new features, this makes sense.

I don't think you can truly compare oranges to oranges when dealing with foreign currency and VAT. It isn't as simple as going to the currency exchange at a bank.

I do know that I won't be buying if the price is really $850 USD. Ouch!

Guys 850 is the price of a laptop with the same specs youre just freaking out because ots the most expensive tab so far

I will still get it. I just want to see a "working" version of Xoom/Honeycomb. All the demos are running a video. No one got a "hands" on.

$130.00 to add 3g to any ipad.
Only because Apple wants all the control, and won't let AT&T brand the 3G. If AT&T was able to brand/subsidize the 3G version, it wouldn't add anything to the price.

Oh, man, I don't know if I'm willing to spend that much. I guess it all comes down to the hype machine surrounding this and how badly I want it when it's finally available
Unbranded, unsubsidized. My current guess is still $599 in the US on Verizon, but my previous thought was always $649-699. I dropped my guess because Samsung announced their Galaxy Tab upgrades, which Moto will have to compete with.

The Xoom has USB host? I have not seen that if it does. Need that for hard drives.

My gTablet has

1. USB Host
2. Rooted out of box
3. Adhoc wifi
4. Tegra 2
5. 16gb (but USB host)
6. Micro sd slot

$350

Not seeing how paying so much for a tablet beyond $400 makes sense, but if you have the money- all is good!

Yes, it does support USB Host mode. This was confirmed by the PM who gave us the demonstration at CES. It does not, however, have a full size USB port. It will come with an adapter that goes from Micro USB to Full Size USB port and will support things like keyboards and flash drives (so I would assume USB hard drives as well).

It could be the same as the ipad. Come on yall, its better, why should they low ball

Because VERY soon it will be competing against the iPad 2; which will probably spec very similarly to this. You do the math; XOOM for $850, or iPad 2 for roughly half the price?

I am looking at the Xoom as a 95% machine. Currently I am using a Google CR-48 for 95% of my computing needs, Android 3.0 looks like it will meet those needs as well. The form factor of a tablet is much more appealing to me and I have been holding off buying a eReader hoping something like Android 3.0 was released, and here it is. As long as there is a good Google Docs app in 3.0 I am all over it.

Up to $500 is where I am ok spending at this point - hopefully the wifi only version will be cheaper than the 3G version ala iPad pricing.

These price shenanigans happened with the Galaxy Tab too.. in the UK it was priced at something ridiculous, like
