Help 2 stock screen protectors?

Today I took off my stock screen protector, to find that there was a 2nd protector on also but this one is fitted better. I took off the 1st one due to dust n some small annoying air bubbles. I was thinking id have to buy anyother one to keep my screen scratchless/crackless. Should I keep the second one on or take it offf and buy another? I really see no reason to take it off if you want one on. Anybodys thought would be thankful.

Also why does motorola put 2 stock protectors on in the first place comming out of the factory?

There's the display sticky with the tab coming off and underneath that is a screen protector. I usually keep mine off because the gorilla glass feels nice to the touch, but since getting my replacement I haven't taken it off yet. I don't notice too much of a difference.

Yeah ive noticed that i get a lot better touch response after taking of the first layer with the tab off. I just really want to know if the 2nd layer will protect my screen. I have a TPU case on my phone also.

The screen is made of gorilla glass, no screen protector is safe from scratches on this phone :-)

My phone only came with one screen protector and it was the thin piece of plastic that sticks to the screen. Am I missing something?

It should come with a Screen Protector then a another Screen protector type thing with a tab on the left hand bottom corner for easy pull off.

Look carefully because I could bearly notice the 2nd screen protector because it was shaped and put on so well.

The place mine was most visible was on the edge of the screen where the earpiece/notification led is at

So not to be stupid, but what's the point of having the second screen protector if the screen is made of Gorilla Glass?
Have most people removed the second protector, or have you left it on?

Ive been wondering the same thing. Ive left mine on to protect the screen from scratchs or cracks.

I just took my second protector off after reading this thread and then doing some research. Response on my games is much better, and my episodes of Aqua teen hunger force look better as well. The gorilla glass is very smooth as well.

Took mine off ages ago (6 months). It really does help touchscreen sensitivity ALOT. Also, scratches show very easily on the second screen protector really easily, where as the gorilla glass is just great looking without any protector at all. No scratches on my screen yet. Id advise taking it off, but be pretty careful doing so, some people scratch the glass just taking it off since its stuck on there so good.

How do you remove the slight streaks left by the adhesive?

I made sure the screen was dry and rubbed my thumb back and forth over them until I built up enough friction. They all came off in little balls of goo. Also there are plenty of stores with adhesive residue remover. Usually in hardware or auto.

Yeah it usually rubs off pretty easy, if not as was previously mentioned you can use a product called Goo-B-Gone, it's citrus based so you don't have to worry about melted plastic. :)

I finally took the dive and removed the thick second screen (I have an InvisibleShield on my phone anyway), and I have to say the screen is not only more responsive, it feels smoother, even with the InvisibleShield on it.

It's not something you need to do-the phone will work fine with it on, but it's nice to have a more responsive screen. It seems a little clearer but that could be my imagination.
It takes a bit of effort to remove, but if you don't already have a screen protector or just prefer the screen to be a tad more responsive, it couldn't hurt. Like others have said, I don't know why they put it there to begin with.

I removed it 3 months ago and not a scratch however it had a crap load of dust underneath the screen. I traded it in and ordered a rocketfish case since it's supposed to keep the dust out from what ive heard.

So this second protector, it's thick isn't it? Enough that your finger is level with the sides of the phone and when you take it off the screen will seem like it's depressed in the case, correct?

I'm not sure what I'm seeing is a protector or actually the screen.

Edit: decided to take a razor blade to the section that was not 100% lined up. Peeled that protector right off. Screen feels rougher, but good. Definitely more responsive.

the Motorola triumph ships with a screen protector, and then it has a plastic sticky sheet over THAT protector which is designed to be removed upon opening the box. its meant to keep the phone scratch free during manufacturing, so they can drop thousands into boxes and not ship with defects (although we know that happens anyways)

regardless, this sheet that so, so many of you call a "screen protector" has no protective qualities about it. its prone to scratches, its too thin to really protect the screen. and IT HAS A FREAKIN PULL TAB. that SCREAMS "remove me!"

anyways, the SECOND screen protector has nothing to do with the gorilla glass, its JUST a protector, this one is a bit harder plastic, designed to be at least somewhat more resistant to scratches then normal plastic (like that pull tab sheet was made out of)

either way, the screen protector is too thick and impairs touch sensitivity. I removed mine but now I use a inivisible shield, becuase its thinner than the stock one and i have that "just in case" insurance for the day it flies out of my pocket on the interstate. or goes sliding across sandpaper (you will call asphalt 'sandpaper' too after getting thrown off a motorcycle)

when i removed my second screen protector i notice my 4 capacitive buttons became very unresponsive i had to press pretty hard to try to get to my home screen or go back or get to the menu. but when i put it back on the button became very responsive with the slightest touch. i was thinking maybe the protector was really meant for the button not the screen my friend has the triumph also and he took of the second one and his button wasn't working well so i cut my second protector and put it on his button and his button started to work again.

Odd. my buttons became MORE responsive after removal. I use cheap screen protectors off eBay (6 for $1.50 shipped) and they actually work great.

I took my "second" screen protector off on Friday and was underwhelmed at the difference it made. Surprising how thick it is, though.

This was a usefull thread i didn't even know there was a second screen protector. I just removed it and now the touch screen is a lot more responsive thanks.
