Wouldn't the update have leaked by now if it was coming in 2 days? Seems like things always get released at least 2 days before an OTA. Hopefully on the 22nd I will have a new update waiting for me when I wake up... Now we wait..

Don't know about you Eris brothers, but some of the DROID users have received an OTA starting the 19th. It's a ~60mb package, thought to be part 1 of a major update. I don't know if that helps clarify anything. So VZW is unloading something.

What sucks is the Motorola already got an OTA patch FOR 2.1... Gosh I'm praying.

With all the excitement 2.1 brings, I'm curious to see what apps will fail to work this time. First it was YouTube, but what if Google Goggles sucks ass on our phones? That's really the only thing I'm looking forward to.

I hope that you are right but the only place that I have officially seen that Jan. 22nd date was on a Verizon document that discussed known issues and "target dates" for fixes to the problems for both the Moto and Eris. Target date may mean the time that they are shooting for but may not make.

That would be fantastic, but I was surprised there wasn't more buzz about or even some early reports of test OTA's, much like the other OTA updates. You would think we would be set to get it, since hero & nexus have it, kinda. Anyone notice nexus doesn't have Sense UI??

Well the thing is, that document is a list of fixes for bugs in 1.5.
By "Target date for the next release of software", they mean the patch.
It really isn't made implicit that the way that these issues will be fixed is by upgrading to 2.1 -- just that they will fix these problems.

If you scroll down further, they also say "Target date for next release of software December 11, 2009".

this next OTA, from my understanding, was exactly what byonichero stated. The 2.0 upgrade may come this quarter. It's speculated at the end of the quarter, March or April.

Further, the document states, "A fix for this issue will be included in a maintenance release for this device." That doesn't say 2.X to me. We have gotten MR1 and MR2. There is either an MR3 coming out or they decided to address all of the problems in the form of platform upgrade (i.e. 2.x).

But hey, speculation is fun.
