Now that I'm on day two and the initial wow factor has worn off (only just slightly though) here are some additional things I've observed:
Good things:
--The screen really is a thing of beauty. I've now sampled 720p rips I made of Cars 2, Captain America, Lord of the Rings, as well as, older, standard definition rips (480p) of IP Man (awesome Chinese action flick) and Push. The HD rips are really breath taking. On the subway today, a person behind me could not keep his eyes off my screen (I was watching Cars 2). But I was especially impressed with how well the standard def vids looked. Honestly, to the less discriminate eye, it could very well pass as HD.
--I like the Beats enhancement a lot. But I'm a bass person.
--Love the form factor. Even though it's a taller phone and is actually thicker at it's thickest point than my old phone (D3), there's no question it's much more comfortable to hold due to the tapered back.
--Like the Sense skin so far. I never took to Blur, even the new, redesigned skin Moto began using with Gingerbread. Instead, I opted for GOLauncherEX because I needed the widgets. However, Sense has all the widgets I need: calender, friends stream, quick contacts, messaging. It even has widgets for stocks and my Google Reader feeds, which I had to use additional apps for in the past. I also love the weather animations, lock screen customizations (e.g., show weather, floating pics, etc...) Hopefully, it doesn't murder the battery.
--Really taking to the red accents. It gives it such a unique quality not found on any other phone (except, perhaps the Incredible).
--The extra ram. I did not realize just how much that would help performance. Coming from a D3 with a pretty fast dual core processor in its own right, the rezound is head and shoulders above it in the speed department. I get no redraws of any kind, apps open very quickly, and I get no stutter or lag while watching HD vids. My guess is that this has to do with the extra ram.
--Internal memory/SD card read/write speed. Files copy much faster from my PC to both the internal memory partition available for content and the SD card it came with than with the D3.
Things that could be better:
--As another poster wrote somewhere else here, my 4G signal only seems to remain constant with Power Mode set to High Performance. I initially changed it to normal to conserve battery, but I noticed the signal dropped to 3G and stayed there. Every once in a while it would change back to 4G, but not enough for my liking.
--The cross-hair looking icon next to the 4G signal icon in the status bar. I like my status bar as clean as possible and this icons is always on. From what I've read, that's the E911 location icon and can't be removed for safety reasons.
--I did have one reboot. It happened this morning about 2 hours ago. Not going to make a big deal out of it as every android device I've owned (phones and tablet) have had issues with rebooting from time to time. If it happens regularly, then I'll get it checked out.
--No ability to customize the number of rows/columns on the home screens or resize widgets. I feel like this should have been an option, especially with the resolution on this phone.
--No wallpaper scrolling. I didn't notice this at first since I initially went with my usual GOLauncherEX set-up. But after I decided to stick with the Sense skin, I found to my dismay that your wallpapers, static and live, don't scroll (or at least I haven't been able to figure out how to get them to scroll).
--I don't think the screen is Gorilla Glass.
Things that really annoy me:
--Just one thing so far and that's the fact that the beats tech only works with the stock music player. It really should be a general option under the Sound settings you can toggle on/off and not something that comes on with the headphones plugged in using ONLY the stock player.
Battery life is still to be determined.
I know there seems to be a lot of gripes, but with the exception of the last one (beat tech not working with other apps), the rest are pretty minor. I also believe that most of these are fixable with custom roms, which I can patiently wait for. As for not using Gorilla Glass, I bought the verizon clear three-pack screen protector. While it covers the entire screen, it doesn't quite fit the entire glass (about 1mm shorter on all size). But it covers enough for now, is very clear, fairly sturdy, and doesn't interfere with touch sensitivity. Plus, you get three of them for just $13. This will do just fine until better screen protectors begin to surface.
All-in-all, the rezound rocks. It's by far the best android device I've owned to date. Probably won't go down as my fondest (that's reserved for the DX, which was my first android phone and changed the way I live my life). But as an upgrade from my last phone, it's everything I could hope for and more.
