2x Battery vs. juicedefender?

Which one will save me more battery life lol, i know they do the same thing, but a lot of you are recommending 2x battery? Why?

Honestly battery saving apps really don't work IMO. You can self manage it all directly from the OS. Turning off radios when not needed. Also if needed turning data off.

And task managers/killers are a no no for android devices.

We're so used to PC's and Macs where the more ram free the better.

Android devices were designed by the android team to use as much ram as possible. Shutting apps and processes down does more harm than good.

I have had very good experience with juice defender as well as EVERYBODY I've recommended it to. I have not heard of the other app you referenced.

So should I get rid of my Advanced Task Killer app?

When I first started using it, my battery life on my Optimus M doubled from 4-5 hours to 10-11 hours.

Over the past 6 months this has gradually decreased to where I'm at 4-5 hours even using the app. What gives?

Maybe it's due to the batteries I use getting progressively older.

Yes, get rid of it. The Optimus M has version 2.2 of the OS so it already handles what is loaded into active memory. Task killers can actually make the phone work harder as it restarts all those apps you killed.

Yes. Remove an Task Manager/app killer/fast reboot any app that "shuts" down applications/proccess. THEY'RE not NEEDED. Since Froyo 2.2 and up. The android team has designed the os to manage applications and it's memory usage.

Which breaks down to.

1. The application you're using.

2. An app you can but you're not using it (e.g. Facebook, reading a post, not scrolling or clicking 'likes' or comments or images).

3. Apps in the background like; Pandora, email or widgets.

4. Background services you can't see running in the notification bar.

5. Content thats waiting to pop up, like; Contacts or calander.

6. Old apps not being used just sitting in the background ideling.

So using applications to 'end' the process or shutting the app off will actually cause a few issues; Faster battery draing because the app will restart it's self anyway and the other issue you can start to experience is a lot or some force closing.

Why the force closing error message appears?. Because if an app or process is shut down and you go to open and app that needs to access one of those process or apps, you will get the FC error message.

With android devices it's best if you just leave apps open and not close them out. Hitting the home key or return arrow key to exit out will leave it's process running and sometimes the app in all. (WHICH IS GOOD)

The android os was design that way to use all the RAM possible.

Now if you get a feeling that your phone is running slow/sluggish/or freezing. Then that's a different issue. That's the hardware on your device.

If you don't have a lot of RAM to handle more apps or your CPU speed is slow and can't process multitasking smoothly, you'll get that type of experience.

That's the down fall of androids is there are so many different types of devices. LOW end to HIGH end. That's why the HIGHER end devices work much better than a LOW end device.

Once an Android user understand this information about their android device. It will give a better understanding of how to use your device. And yes if you can, it's always best to purchase a higher end device, if funds permit. It truely in most case is worth the $$.

And battery saving apps will do the same as you can do but it just does it automatically but in return will actually end up using more juice because it's another app/process running constantly to monitor when you wake your phone up, put it to sleep, etc, etc.

Just managing your radios manually and if you don't need constat push notifications (email alerets, fb alerets, twitter alerets) then turn off the notification push inside the app and also disaplbe Auto Sync with in the os settings. Settings>account & sync>uncheck auto sync.

Hope this helps

And honestly leaving apps and process running and letting the os manage it you will see an increase in battery life!

Thanks! :)

Brilliant answer by Aere also in addition battery saving apps screws with the Apn setting so unless u know hot edit the apn again u will be left with no 4g data, those apps are useless if you want to make life easier get switchpro widget has shortcuts to instantly turn of data background data flashlight built in task manager if u want then a rebooter to go in recovery etc all in the widget

I am new to this technology, but I do not understand what was said above.. is it possible to clarify this.. thanks

He is speaking of an app you can get on the market. I'd also recommend widgetsoid as a shortcut toggle app.

can we please review 2x battery? anyone?

I am using it. I get about three percent per hour battery usage when not actively using the phone. I have it set to keep the 4G off for like thirty seconds after a screen wake. That way it does not turn on when I am doing something quick like checking the time or a notification. You can always manually turn it on during that pause with one click. I tried JD as well, but I ended up with 2x.

I've tried out juicedefender and it seemed like it wasn't gonna do anything more than what I could do myself with a toggle app. 4G is more or less the reason for serious battery drain and all you need to do is shut it off and only use it when you need it.

try getting the ultimate beta spend 15-20 minutes customizing and if u have the battety test widget you will immediately see an unbelievable difference. even switching between ur custom and balanced will do that.
i double my battery life AT LEAST

i doubled my battery life by turning off GPS and BGD and using wifi when its available.

im 15 hours in and i have 38% left on the battery.

mostly on wifi, streaming radio, audio, and some net surfing totaling maybe 2 and a half hours of that time.

haha anybody knows u are supposed to have gps off at ALL times im guna upload my recovery file for juice defender andi want u to try it and see what u get
