3.1 feels like a new tablet

I just downloaded the official 3.1 update and it was worth the wait. Someone from a different state was kind enough to share it on xda so the rest of the states didn't have to wait. This is not the leaked Chinese version, this is the ota version. All in all, a big big upgrade all around. :)
 
I believe you have to be rooted to install it or at least that what i seen yesterday. Have not been up long enough to check that site yet.

Yes, you do. I was rooted and used Acer recovery and cwm to install it. Now I'm rooted on 3.1. Edit: kernel version 2.6.36.3 build: Acer_a500_4.010.07_com_gen2
 
wow that was fast. Yea im still reading the 20+ pages OMG that site moves fast. LOL...

Looks like there is a NON Rooted update and a ROOTED update. Personally i can wait. I lost my faith in rooting back on the old MyTouch 3G (gold card). Yes it was eventually rooted after a week and lots of tweaking.
 
This is what the tablet should have performed like out of the box. It's a huge improvement though. I couldn't be happier. Especially now that I can use my wireless mouse and my Logitech gamepad.
 
I've noticed the way the storage in the settings menu is displayed differently. Other than that, I don't notice any speed difference, the only difference I do notice is that my wifi signal is a lot worse.
 
My OTA update keeps failing. Once it downloads,unzips and reboots it fails at about 25%. I don't really care much as the tablet works just fine for me the way it is. There will be a fix eventually I'm sure.

Same issue here. It is pretty annoying.

I updated the demo at BB today and that happened the first try. I rebooted the A500 and the second update effort worked.

Considering the wifi was already unsteady with low signal areas, that seems almost impossible, since the next step down would be rough for any connection, except next to a router.

My download speeds are great my install hangs.I was going to reset to factory but read by many that it wont make a difference. Tried the remove SD card that didn't help made sure the power was plugged in same problem.

Check over at xda. They've discussed this problem and may have fixed it.
