$30 4G plan Nexus 4/S3 or Note 2

I was thinking about coming to tmobile for this plan but I was wondering how is it for you guys who have it. I was also looking into but can an unlocked s3 or note 2 work on the service. I was thinking about s3 or nexus 4 but I would prefer the s3 as it can run stock or cyanogen mod so you can get the best of both worlds.plus the buttons on bottom of nexus 4 screen take precious resources. Anyway and recommendations are appreciated. Also can you only use unlocked phones or tmobile phones. Thanks

Also if the galaxy s 3 comes out will price of s3 drop ?

I didnt want to do mod anymore. Too much time. I use Nova Launcher with my stock N4 and I like it.

You mean the price of s3 will come out after the s4 drop? Yah sure. If there is any stock on s3 left. I think s2 is still around as a free contract phone.
 
The international S3 and Note 1/2 will only get better than edge in refarmed areas. I'd get the TMobile version or at least a pentaband phone.
 
I have the $30 plan but you have to remember its only 100 mins of talk time, if this was my only phone I would not have the $30 plan, one conversation with my grandma could burn all those mins plus some.
 
save yourself the headache of using other branded phones or get yourself a pentaband phone that works with any carrier any where on all bands. if you want try to get a cheap android phone that is for tmobile ive seen decent ones for 80-100 bux if you look around and try the $30 plan along with groove ip on 4g to make free calls.

This can't be true because I have a Canadian Telus HTC amaze and I'm on tmobile and it has hspa+ and I'm in a refarmed area and get 7-10 megabytes per second on average. This phone does not use the 1700 band it uses the 1900 band for 3g.

i dont think tmo 4g/hspa runs on 1900mhz band i think 3g is the most for it on 1900 which is the refarm band i believe hspa runs on 1700mhz for tmo
 
if you want to save youself the hassle yes just get a tmo s3 if your stuck on using that only you can use an att or international version s3 but depending where you are located you may or may not get their 3g coverage because of the mhz band so if your in a location where they have not refarmed their area then you will only get edge which is slow. if you dont want to woory about where you go and what not either get a tmo version or get a pentaband phone or a nexus 4
 
30 bux is tough to beat when u can use an app to make calls over data ive not come close to using 5gb and i use my phone a lot
 
So to get 4g and 3g i need the t mobile version ? Also im seeing that to get prepaid 4g plan they want you to buy 4g prepaid s3. isn't the on contract s3 the same as prepaid 4g s3 or are they somehow different. Or they just don't want you getting the on contract s3 for cheaper.
 
no you dont, an att or internaional version will work fine where they have refarmed their network on the 1900mhz band but outside of that refarm area you will only get edge speed. you can just buy a sim and activate it online to one of the 4g monthly plans you would need a phone as well obviously from somewhere craigslist is a so/so place to start but you can get a good deal if you look enough
 
The only reason they would not want you to get a s3 contract phone for prepaid is because they subsidize the contract. so if you go that route you will be locked into the contract and not have the prepaid.

Other then that they should be the same phone.

It depends on if T-Mobile in your area has been refarmed. If the area has been refarmed, then you are fine with an AT&T phone; if the area hasn't be refarmed, then you will only get Edge speeds.

The phones are exactly the same, contract or no contract. The difference is, the contract plan is subsidized -- basically about $400 of the price of the phone is built into the contract. In exchange for getting the phone "cheap", basically they are giving you a loan and charging you interest for most of the phone cost.

It is very possible that you can find the phone cheaper online, just be sure it is not a contract price and, to ensure it works across T-Mobile's network, that it supports the 1700 Mhz band. As an example of a cheaper price online, the best way to buy the Nexus 4 is directly from Google's Play Store. You then would purchase the SIM Activation Kit from T-Mobile (which is free today) and use it to sign up for the $30 plan.

I get "4g" (technically 3g) and I am in a refarmed area. It never drops to 3g and I have an HTC Amaze which is from TELUS originally and it's unlocked so that's why. It supports the GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, and UMTS 850/1700/1900/2100 MHz bands. It's hard to tell but I'm probably on the 1900 Mhz band for 3g.
