Root 320? I thought I was on 340.

So, I downloaded the maderstock340.zip, am running stock, and noticed on my system version it says:

System Version:
Version2.3.320.MB810.Verizon.en.US

Android Version:
2.2.1

I looked around and found another zip, so, in hopes of getting the .340 version, I downloaded it, then did the volume down-home-power button trick, and selected applied update from zip.

I ended up getting this:

Can't open/cache/recovery/command
assert failed: file_getprop("/system/buld.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") yadda, yadda, yadda...

So basically, it doesn't let me get into the folder to flash a zip...

Am I missing something? I feel like my phone is getting slower by the minute, and my concern grew when I realized a buddy of mine received an OTA for 2.3...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Backup phone's SD Card, then wipe data/cache in recovery (POWER+HOME), then SBF to the real 2.2.340...NOT MADERSTOCK....
z4root and bootstrap recovery droid 2
then get GB rooted .596 on here (or if you don't feel like rooting anymore, get the OTA.)
