When running LGNPST I get the error unable to load lgnpst_utility5.dll. The folder only has subfolders for components 1.0 and 2.0. Did I somehow install the wrong version? Thx.

For some reason from my computer adb shell gives me the $ prompt, I tried rebooting multiple times without any success, I used a terminal on the actual phone and was able to get SU permission on the actual phone and ran the rest of the commands from the terminal.

Tutorial worked flawlessly, Thanks a million dude.
 
Okay I've tried everything stated in the replies and in the post and looked online a little but I can't get the $ sign in the command prompt to change to a #. I've installed a terminal emulator on the phone but I'm not sure exactly how to use it to get the permissions I need. I even tried to type in the exact command prompt used in the tutorial to get to the point where you type in "adb shell" but it said permission denied. So now I'm completely stumped. Any help would be really, really great because I can't use the phone until I get it fixed...

on the phone open terminal and type su hit enter

should ask u for permission andthen give u the # prompt
 
Everything went smoothly, but then I got to the very end.

I saw the #

Then there was a list of commands:

"mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system

cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image

chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image

mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak

mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system

flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-2.2.1-joneidy.img"





It didn't say what to do with these commands, so I assumed I needed to paste them in, I did that and pressed enter. Something seemed to happen. Tutorial said I was done. But now the phone says no service, has the X in the icon up top, and I can't dial *228 to activate. I get the message "problem with activation, programming unsuccessful! please call customer service.

I think that last step didn't work for some reason. Was I supposed to paste those commands in line by line? Was I supposed to go back to the main "platform tool" thing first.

It gave the impression that once you see the #, you paste these next commands and you're done.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Those commands need to be entered one by one

Do I need to do the whole thing over again starting from the beginning?

I don't know how to get back to where I had the "#",

If I just enter in the "platform tool" line, the commands don't seem to work.

Also, does it matter that I have not activated my phone yet?

I did this to my phone and everything seemed to work, yet i still dont have signal. Do you know what might have happened?

Nevermind, I simply restarted the phone. It works! I have signal!

When you type su, you've have to watch your phones screen because Super User will pop up and you need to hit Allow.

C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb shell
$ su
su
Permission denied (Make sure your screen is on so you can let SU allow, then you'll get the # and not Permission Denied)
$ su
su
#
 
thanks for your help, I had messed up the last command too by pasting the whole paragraph instead of line by line. I did a system restore (boot holding power, volume down and home), then I went through everything again and this time it seems to have worked.

su hit enter look at phone to accept superuser


if you don't accept superuser you wont get the #

better to set your screen time out on phone to ten minutes so you can see the request pop up on phone.
 
Want to say that once again I used this guide as reference to root my Girl's phone today and again it worked flawlessly. Thanks again Blaxican for the well explained instructions.
 
I just have to say Thank You, Blaxican. We spent 6 hours getting my phone up and running LOL! Never would have expected that from anyone, I'm extreamly greatful to you. Love the ROM as well. Keep up the great work and again,Thank You!
